Cats and Books

Black History Month

Martin Luther King Jr. in his home library.
February is the start of Black History Month. This month is set aside to acknowledge African Americans that fought, and taught for a better future for my generation as well as others. Of these African Americans I would like to isolate Martin Luther King Jr. There are tons of books about this leader. His role in the civil rights movement will be forever etched into history books. Not only was he a phenomenal leader for civil rights but he was also an advocate for promoting education among African Americans.

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.

Welcome to My Life

Today I'm beginning a new chapter in my life. I am starting my first blog. I had a tough time deciding what I wanted to blog about. I thought about celebrity news, music, fashion, and even food! I decided that for my first blog I would concentrate on something that I can relate to on a daily basis. That is my job. I work at a library. I am a Library Associate III at a small town library. The library that I am employed at is only a small branch of many other libraries that make up the entire library system in my county. In all there is a total of 16 libraries in my county and one is being built as we speak. So at the end of March there will be a total of 17. My branch is one of the smallest. My branch has been been open for a total of 20 years and was renovated in 2008. The branch is named after an old mayor for the town it was built in.
